Conservation
The Conservation Management team serves as our frontline habitat management and restoration force. With three camps permanently based in the field, they work to ensure that this iconic wilderness retains its ecological richness.
Every day, our Conservation team protects the western Serengeti by removing invasive alien plant species, managing fires, upkeeping vital rhino conservation infrastructure, and tending to wildlife harmed by human activities.
Fire Management

Fire shapes the Serengeti – enriching soils, renewing grasslands, and helping to keep invasive alien plant species at bay. Nonetheless, fire can also be destructive, threatening wildlife, people, and infrastructure. Our Conservation team is prepared to handle both, carefully planning prescribed burns for restoration and tackling arson fires whenever they arise.

Wildlife Wellbeing

Working with our government partners and their veterinary teamswe respond to injured wildlife – most often from poachers’ snares. Injured animals are sedated for treatment and then safely released back into the wild.

Invasive alien Plant control

The Conservation team identifies and removes invasive alien plant species, preventing them from outcompeting native species, degrading habitat, and threatening wildlife across the Serengeti.
