RISE
Research & Innovation for the Serengeti Ecosystem
Research & Innovation for the Serengeti Ecosystem (RISE) is Grumeti Fund’s applied research and conservation capacity building facility.
Since 2019, RISE has supported graduate students, researchers, and conservationists to address major conservation challenges affecting the Serengeti. Through collaboration, RISE develops tools, knowledge, and capacity for conservation decision-making while mentoring emerging scholars and conservation leaders.
Programs
Women in the Field

Women in the Field (WIF) is training program in social and ecological research, data collection, data analysis, and professional development for early-career Tanzanian women. Participants gain practical skills, a supportive network, and the confidence to make lasting impacts in conservation.

CONSERVATION EDUCATION FOR KIDS

Conservation Education for Kids Program (CE4K) focuses on primary school students in Bunda and Serengeti Districts. The program aims to instill conservation values, build environmental awareness, and expose young learners to Tanzanian wildlife. CE4K uses children’s books written in Swahili and English to make the content accessible and engaging.

Media Lab

Every year, RISE hosts a filmmaking and storytelling workshop. The program provides participants with hands-on experience in capturing, editing, and presenting compelling conservation stories.
